ASK has been a client of ours since 2008. We were first introduced to them when they had just initiated a move to a new facility. Their old facility was too small with poor flow of material and people resulting in efficiency losses and safety hazards. Upon initiating the process to move to a new larger facility a major new customer opportunity required preparation of over 30 PPAP’s and new tooling in an unprecedented compressed time frame. We prepared a new lean layout and completed the move on-time without adversely affecting production and financial performance. 

Once they had settled into their new facility, ASK was faced with the kind of challenge most manufacturers welcome. The company had won significant new sales opportunity but they were struggling to keep up with increased demands and service commitments. FPC Corporation has been a client and DemandCaster® user since 2007. We were first introduced to FPC when they were looking for customized software that would afford them improved visibility of sales to better plan inventory. This in turn prompted us to develop what would later become DemandCaster. 

The most significant contribution DemandCaster has provided was realized as FPC started to climb out of the impact of the recession. As exhibited in the graphic below, since June of 2009, as the market started to stabilize, FPC has enjoyed a revenue growth of 44% without increasing inventory. Turns have increased from a low of 2.9 to a high of 4.43 even as delivery lead times have increased from their overseas suppliers. By monitoring delivery performance and identifying the critical items that were most at risk, using DemandCaster FPC was able to proactively adjust their operating parameters to assure they were able to maintain the stocking levels necessary to meet the service expectations of their retail customers.

X-L has been a DemandCaster user since 2009. We were first introduced to them because they were struggling to meet the needs of their biggest customer. At the time of implementation, shortages and stock-outs were running at over 30% of items and WIP was excessive.

We implemented DemandCaster to manage the demand planning process and provide visibility on stock levels and changes in demand. We also helped them implement a lean approach to manufacturing to reduce batch sizes and lead times. Within 4 months the number of stock-outs and shortages were reduced to 3% of managed SKU’s and work in process was cut in half.
