Sales and Operations Execution for the Short Term

S&OP

One current problem in supply chain is with short term execution. Sales and operations planning usually looks ahead at least three months, so the short term is where S&OE comes in. Supply Chain Digital said, “S&OE fits within the immediate context of business planning this means the short-term, less than three month horizon, as seen in daily or weekly processes. . . Improving an S&OE process enables the S&OP team to focus on operational and strategic objectives, moving from immediate actions and firefighting to dedicated execution.” When focusing on the “now” it’s important to utilize a few tools. Real time data and visibility can help S&OE make immediate decisions that resolve issues and keep the business moving forward.
